Second-timers only need to renew their work permit. Those who have already worked for five consecutive years may consider applying for a more permanent basis due to their job nature.

Also, the employer should verify that you have taken all the required steps. All these are to reduce the chances of rejection.

Whether you are a first-timer, you can make the application on your own or work with an immigration office. Ideally, it would be best if you opted for an immigration company as they know the South African Immigration act from to back. Also, they can advise you on the ideal visa to apply for. Lastly, they can assist in case an appeal arises.

Ugandans wishing to travel abroad must first acquire a passport. To do so, you must own your identity card, a recommendation letter and recommender’s identification card and a document supporting your occupation (if applicable). For minors, you need their birth certificate, parents’ ID, passport and letter of consent. If the child is adopted, you must attach an adoption order from the high court of Uganda. The application fee for an ordinary passport currently stands at 250,000 UGX. Those wishing for express processing are charged a 150,000 extra cost, which is paid separately in a bank. Now that you know the basics, here goes the application steps. 

How to Apply For a Passport in Uganda online?

  • First, head on to the Uganda Immigration Portal.
  • Accept the terms and conditions.
  • You will be met with some security questions, which you must answer before proceeding. 
  • Fill in the rest of the information.
  • Print the Passport Application Payment Advice Form.
  • Pay for the passport using your preferred payment method at the bank, by credit or online.
  • Set up an appointment date using the scheduled appointment link on the homepage.
  • Finally, please print out the application form and present it at the Immigration Head office in Kampala for applicant verification.
  • Remember to carry the prior mentioned documents.

It takes ten (10) working days to process regular passports and two days for express ones. If you have trouble with any of the above steps, try using a different browser before contacting customer care.

How to Obtain a Road Worthiness Certificate in Nigeria? As the name suggests, a roadworthiness certificate is a document that proves one’s car is fit to be on the road. This way, the government reduces the number of traffic offenses. This document can also be used as a form of identification. When applying for one, you need the following:-

 

  1. Filled application form.
  2. A valid vehicle license.
  3. Registered vehicle certification.
  4. Another form of identification such as a passport.
  5. Updated insurance copy.
  6. Proof of payment.

If the Vehicle Inspection Officer rules that your car is fit for driving, you will be issued a roadworthiness certificate. When filling out the form, ensure neatness to avoid rejections. Some of the information you must fill in correctly include your name, Identification number, date of birth, vehicle details, traffic registration number, physical address, and phone number. You must avoid traffic offences at all costs. One way is to check if you have any prior violations from the vehicle office detection website. If there are any, clear the fee.

How to Opt Out of Fuliza?

Thanks to the introduction of Fuliza services, you can now complete transactions even with insufficient funds in your M-Pesa account. What’s more, you can also send money, Lipa na M-Pesa or Buy Goods using the same service.

 

However, only active Safaricom users can enjoy this service. To register, you need your ID and wait to see your limit. Users can Fuliza as many times as their limit allows them. And charges apply. On the other hand, if you wish to opt out of this service, you can do that in two ways- via the M-Pesa app or USSD code. Here is how to go about the two processes.

  1. Go to your dial pad and tap *234#.
  2. Select Fuliza (Option 0).
  3. Select 7 to opt-out
  4. Confirm your choice.
  5. Wait for a confirmation message.

If you have the M-Pesa app, do this:-

  1. Open the application.
  2. Go to the transactions section and select Fuliza, located at the bottom of the page.
  3. You will be redirected to the Fuliza dashboard.
  4. Click the 3 dots on the top right of the screen.
  5. You will get an option to exit from Fuliza.

Please note that the limit might go down once you have opted out from Fuliza. So only opt out if you are sure you no longer require the services.
