Nazizi Hirji, the legendary Kenyan musician, and her husband Adam are mourning the loss of their 3-year-old son.
The rapper, 42, announced Tuesday that their son Jazeel Adam died on December 25 while on Christmas holiday in Tanzania.
“It is with profound sorrow and deepest heartache that we confirm the tragic passing of Jazeel, ” a statement from her family reads. “We lost this young soul in an unfortunate accident at a hotel where the family was staying. He was buried earlier today (December 26) in Nairobi in accordance with his religion.”
Though she did not give details as to the circumstances surrounding Jazeel’s death, media reports indicate that he fell head-first from the fourth floor of the hotel where they were vacationing after he woke up and walked to the balcony panicking after finding out he was alone in the room after the parent had gone to fix internet connection problems at the front desk.
Nazizi’s family says that in these dark times, the light of a child’s life, in all its innocence and joy, is undeniably the purest. The void left by the loss is immeasurable, and the pain is unbearable, urging the media and fans to uphold privacy during this difficult time.
Jazeel Adam was born on July 6, 2021, and he is Nazizi’s second-born son after Tafari Firoz.
