The retirement of long-serving teacher Indimuli Kahi was marked on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at his now-former office in Machakos School, where he was serving as the principal.

Mr. Indimuli is saying goodbye to classrooms as he retires after a whopping 37 years in the teaching profession, 34 of which he has spent managing the operations of different schools as its head.

Since 2019, he has been a principal at Machakos High School, a boys’ national school in Machakos County, about 63km from Nairobi, Kenya.

But before his transfer to Machakos School, Mr. Indimuli was the principal of Chavakali High School from 2010 to 2018 and previously held the same office at Vihiga High School and Tom Mboya Secondary School in Rusinga Island.

He said: “I may not have been the best, I may have stepped on your toes at times, but it’s all because of working to provide the best to our children and nation. As I exit the teaching service, I urge you to continue monitoring your children closely to instill discipline and God-fearing values in them.”

Until his retirement, Mr. Indimuli, who holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed.) from Kenyatta University also held various critical leadership positions in the Kenyan education sector and has been the president African Confederation of Principals and National Chairman of Kenya Secondary Schools’ Heads Association (KSSHA). He is also a council member of the International Confederation of Principals.

In his lengthy Facebook post announcing his retirement, those who know him described him as a passionate teacher whose contribution shaped the entire education sector in the country. Many wished him blessings in his golden years. Here are some comments;

Oscar Changy: “Congratulations sir for having shaped the future of so many young people in this country. Chief Principal Benson Manoo, formerly of Ribe Boys, will be taking over from him, and he is the new Machakos School principal.
