Orange Subscribers – Orange Money
1. Go to -> Customer access Orange Money and select “Payments”.

3. Enter Bill Reference Number (Smartcard No.).
4. Input amount to be paid.
5. Confirm the request and select send

EQUITY ATMs
1. Insert your ATM Card into ATM Machine and enter your PIN.
2. Select Bill Payment Option.

This can be done using their T-Kash service which is integrated within the sim card and offers the same services as M-Pesa such as paying bills or paying for goods and services.

How To Buy Telkom Airtime From M-PESA Without Charges

Telkom offers great deals when it comes to data and calls, often better than other network providers. The process of recharging through T-Kash is as follows;

  1. Go to the Telkom menu on your phone
  2. Tap on Buy Airtime
  3. Choose between the option of buying for your number or buying for another number
  4. Enter the phone number to recharge as the account number
  5. Enter the amount to recharge
  6. Enter your pin and click okay.

When buying through the M-Pesa Pay Bill you take the following steps;

  1. Go to your Safaricom toolkit
  2. Get into the M-pesa Menu.
  3. Select Pay Bill.
  4. Enter Business No. 674674.
  5. Enter Account your Telkom Mobile number.
  6. Enter the Amount.
  7. Enter your M-Pesa PIN then send.

You can also use the USSD code as follows

  1. Dial *544*4*1#
  2. enter the airtime amount you wish to purchase
  3. Enter M-pesa number (your Safaricom phone number)

How to apply for HELB Subsequent undergraduate loans?

HELB, the Higher Education Loans Board, has unveiled a new mobile app to streamline the process of applying for student loans and scholarships. Available for free on Google Play, the HELB mobile app allows for application to a variety of loans, including second and subsequent undergraduate loans. The beauty of this new app is that it makes the application process entirely paperless; no hard copy documents are necessary.

If you’re uncertain about how to navigate this new platform, don’t fret. We’re here to guide you through a simplified, step-by-step process of applying for your loan using your mobile phone. First, install the app on your device (if you don’t have a phone, you can use a friend’s). Simply open Google Play, search for ‘HELB’, and hit ‘install’. [Download the HELB mobile app here](HELB Mobile APP on PlayStore) for easy and convenient access to all HELB services.

Upon successful installation, you’ll be asked to enter your phone number (Safaricom line only, registered under your name), followed by clicking ‘Generate PIN’. A verification code will be sent to your mobile phone and the email address registered on the HELB portal. If you don’t receive the code within a few minutes, hit ‘Resend verification code’. Enter the received verification code, set your PIN, and click ‘set PIN’.

In the subsequent window, input the PIN you’ve just set, read through the license agreement, and click ‘Accept’ to move forward. Finish the registration by filling in mandatory fields such as your first name, ID number, and email address, then select ‘Register/ Proceed’.

If you’re seeking to apply for a second or subsequent loan, please note that it’s only available to students who’ve previously applied for and/or received a loan from HELB within the last three years. To apply for a loan:

  1. Tap ‘Loans’ from your HELB mobile app account dashboard, followed by ‘Undergraduate Loans’.

  3. Update your personal, institutional, and employment details as necessary.
  4. Fill out the form and click ‘Ok’ to submit.

Western Union services are now available on Equity Bank App.

Equity Bank has announced the integration of Western Union services into its Equity Mobile App and Equity Online banking platforms, marking a significant enhancement to its digital banking capabilities. This collaboration enables customers to send and receive international money transfers directly from their devices via Western Union.

The service offers an unprecedented convenience to Equity Bank (Kenya) Ltd customers, allowing them to send funds via the Equity Mobile App or Equity Online to recipients’ bank accounts worldwide. This includes other Equity Bank accounts across the region and cash pick-up transactions at any Western Union Agent, spanning over 200 countries and territories.

Equity customers can also readily receive money from virtually anywhere in the world by entering the tracking number (MTCN) and other necessary details on the app. The transferred funds can be deposited into the receiver’s preferred Equity bank account.

Equity Bank Kenya Managing Director, Gerald Warui, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “Our commitment is to leverage partnerships and technology to enhance customer experiences. Safaricom has joined forces with the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) to unveil the HELB Mobile Wallet and the HELB M-PESA Mini App. The HELB Mobile Wallet will grant students the ability to directly receive the upkeep component of their student loans into their M-PESA accounts. Moreover, the HELB M-PESA Mini App has been launched as a platform for all HELB beneficiaries to manage their accounts.

The HELB Mini App offers beneficiaries the opportunity to access their HELB upkeep, withdraw money, repay loans, apply for future loans, monitor their loan status, and view their statements from an Android or iPhone app.

Charles Ringera, CEO of HELB, stated, “Our collaboration with Safaricom will equip beneficiaries with heightened convenience and significantly improve their experience in accessing funds and our services. The HELB Mini App and the *642# code offer a gateway to our services, including loan application, upkeep fund access, fund withdrawal, loan status checks, statement access, and loan repayment.”

The HELB Mini App can be found under the “Services” section of the M-PESA Super App. To activate the Mini App and set a PIN, registered HELB beneficiaries will need to input their phone number and receive a confirmation code. Unregistered beneficiaries will be asked to input a phone number registered to the National ID linked to their HELB account for activation.

Peter Ndegwa, CEO of Safaricom, expressed his pride in partnering with HELB to develop solutions that cater to their customers’ evolving needs in a progressively digital world. He stated that the partnership aims to create mobile and digital solutions that further empower beneficiaries with convenience, enabling them to access and manage HELB funds and services on their mobile devices.

Beneficiaries will have the option to receive the upkeep component of the HELB loan via M-PESA or the mobile wallet. This feature, starting with first-year students making their initial application, will gradually be extended to existing beneficiaries in their second and subsequent years of study, allowing them to opt for receiving their upkeep via the mobile wallet.

In addition to M-PESA, Safaricom and HELB are looking to integrate other mobile money services into the wallet, enabling students to receive funds through those services. This feature is expected to be rolled out in the upcoming months.

Safaricom has officially introduced the myCounty App, a digital platform designed to streamline services across all 47 counties in Kenya into one user-friendly interface. Makueni County is the pioneer in integrating with myCounty, with the intention to gradually incorporate the remaining 46 counties in the ensuing months. The myCounty app can be accessed via a USSD short code, Android and iPhone apps for all counties, and as a mini-app on the M-PESA App. This allows for payment of county services such as parking fees, single business permit fees, market cess, land rates, and property rates among others.

The myCounty app allows users to choose their county of residence, thereby connecting them to the specific county’s services for processing requests. Users also have the convenience of accessing services from other counties, facilitating payment of parking fees and other common charges. The goal of the myCounty app is to simplify public access and payment for county services, eliminating the need to physically visit county offices for manual payments. The benefits for the counties include round-the-clock access to their services, enhanced revenue collection, and improved visibility of revenue collection and performance.

Additionally, the myCounty app includes a feature named “Sema Na Governor”, which empowers citizens to engage with their Governor or report issues. It also provides access to essential County and emergency services, such as fire, ambulance, police, etc., just at the tap of a button. Safaricom has developed a “gateway” that combines services from all county providers in a single digital channel. Other benefits for the counties include revenue management, cash and bank reconciliation, credit control and debt management, and business intelligence systems.

The myCounty app is poised to transform the way county services are accessed and paid for, promoting efficiency and transparency in county services management. By providing this digital solution, Safaricom is enabling counties to use technology to deliver effective and reliable services to their citizens. The app not only brings all county services under one roof, making it simpler for citizens to engage with their county governments, but it also offers a digital payment platform, which reduces the need for manual payments, thereby increasing efficiency in revenue collection.
